(WEEK - 6) Report on Sanitary Napkin Distribution and Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session

Objective of the Session

The primary aim of this session was to:

  • Educate adolescent girls about menstruation and menstrual hygiene.

  • Break the stigma and silence surrounding periods.

  • Promote the use of sanitary napkins and proper disposal.

  • Distribute free sanitary napkin kits to all girl students.

Session Highlights

  1. Introduction

    • The session began with an interactive discussion to understand students existing knowledge and concerns related to menstruation.

  2. Educational Talk

    • A female health educator explained:

      • What menstruation is and why it happens.

      • Importance of hygiene during periods.

      • Myths and facts about menstruation.

      • Proper use and disposal of sanitary pads.

  3. Demonstration

    • Demonstrated how to use a sanitary pad, how often to change, and how to wrap and dispose of it properly.

  4. Q&A Session

    • Students asked open questions without hesitation.

    • Common doubts were clarified in a respectful and simple manner.

  5. Sanitary Napkin Distribution

    • Each girl received a packet of sanitary napkins.

Photos and Participation

  • Photos were taken (with school permission) for documentation.

  • Teachers appreciated the open, positive environment created.

Feedback from Students & Teachers

  • Students found the session helpful and said it made them feel more confident.

  • Teachers requested more such sessions for younger girls and mothers in the community.

Outcome

  • Around 90 Girls benefited from this session.

  • The session helped remove misconceptions and encouraged healthy hygiene habits.

  • Strengthened trust between the NGO and school for future collaborations.
