( WEEK-17 ) A Cry for Help on Campbell Road — And a Life Saved

A Silent Plea for Help on Campbell Road — And the Moment That Changed Everything

Yesterday, while I was passing through Campbell Road in Lucknow for some work, something made me stop in my tracks. Outside a small shop, in a dusty corner where people usually don’t look twice, a female dog was lying completely still.

As I stepped closer, the reality shattered me. Her neck was badly infected, and maggots were eating away at her wound. Her eyes were tired, filled with pain… yet still holding a tiny spark of trust, as if she was hoping someone—anyone—would help her.

I had brought some food with me. When I tried to feed her, she struggled to lower her head. The pain in her neck was so unbearable that even bending down was impossible for her. Watching her try… fail… and still look up at me with hope—that moment broke me completely.

So I lifted the food with my hands, supported her gently, and fed her bit by bit. Only then was she able to eat. And the way she looked at me afterwards… I will never forget it.
It felt like she was saying, Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for not walking away.

We acted fast. Within minutes, arrangements were made, and she was taken for urgent medical treatment. She is now safe, warm, and receiving the care she desperately needed.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Yagnik Patel, whose timely support and humanity made this rescue possible. Her willingness to help without hesitation truly saved her life.

This experience reminded me of something profound—
There are lives around us suffering quietly, waiting for one moment of kindness.
And sometimes, one moment is all it takes to save a life.

Our NGO will continue to stand beside every voiceless soul that needs love, treatment, and a chance to live pain-free again.
